Step 4 – Medical Clearance Process

Ensuring You’re Ready to Move Forward

This step confirms that your body and overall health are well-suited for egg donation. While it involves clinical evaluations, the goal is simple: to make sure the process is safe, thoughtful, and aligned with medical best practices — for you and for the Intended Parents you’re helping.

What Happens During Medical Clearance

Once an Intended Parent has selected you, the IVF clinic begins the medical clearance process. This typically starts with initial testing, including blood work such as an AMH test and a baseline ultrasound to assess ovarian health. If those results fall within the clinic’s guidelines, you’ll travel for a one-day visit to the IVF clinic.

During this visit, you’ll meet with the physician and nursing team, complete a physical exam, and provide additional blood work and testing. In addition to the clinic visit, you’ll also complete two important virtual evaluations:

• A psychological assessment with a Japanese-speaking psychologist who specializes in working with egg donors.
• A session with a genetic counselor, who will review your multi-generational family medical history in detail.

If all evaluations are approved, your doctor will issue medical clearance — usually within a few weeks — allowing you to proceed to the next phase of the journey.
