Step 6 – The Cycle Begins

For Surrogates

Understand the cycle phase of surrogacy with J. Baby by your side, including medication schedules, embryo transfer preparation, and pregnancy confirmation.

Step 6 – The Cycle Begins

The Sixth Step in Your J. Baby Surrogacy Journey

Reaching Step 6 – The Cycle Begins is a major milestone. At this point, all approvals are complete, your match is finalized, and you’re officially beginning the medical cycle that leads to embryo transfer.

This stage brings excitement, anticipation, and a real sense of momentum as your body prepares for pregnancy. Your J. Baby team and IVF clinic will guide you through every detail so you feel supported, informed, and confident throughout the process.

What Happens When the Cycle Begins

Once everything is approved, your Nurse Coordinator will create a personalized Cycle Calendar just for you. This calendar outlines all key dates, medications, and appointments you’ll follow during this stage of the journey.

Here’s what you can expect:

Starting Fertility Medications

On Day 1 of your cycle, you’ll begin fertility medications. These medications help prepare the lining of your uterus so your body is in the best possible condition for embryo transfer.

Following Your Cycle Calendar

Your Cycle Calendar provides clear guidance and structure, including:

  • Medication start dates and instructions
  • Monitoring appointments
  • Bloodwork and ultrasounds
  • The estimated embryo transfer window
  • Any clinic-specific instructions

You’ll always know what’s coming next, and your care team will be available to answer questions every step of the way.

Embryo Transfer

Within approximately 2–3 weeks, your embryo transfer will be scheduled. This is a quick, painless procedure performed by your IVF physician — a meaningful milestone that many surrogates describe as one of the most emotional moments of the journey.

The Two-Week Wait

After the transfer, the focus shifts to gentle monitoring and patience. Your clinic will schedule follow-up bloodwork, and about 2–3 weeks later, an ultrasound is performed to confirm a fetal heartbeat and a successful pregnancy.

Why This Step Matters

The start of the cycle is where preparation turns into progress. It’s a carefully guided medical process designed to ensure your body is fully supported and ready for a healthy pregnancy.

This step:

  • Brings structure and clarity to the final medical preparations
  • Ensures your body is supported for implantation
  • Marks the beginning of pregnancy monitoring
  • Moves you into the most meaningful phase of the surrogacy journey

Once your embryo transfer is complete, you’ll move forward to Step 7 – Pregnancy & Birth, where your OB team and the J. Baby team support you through every stage of pregnancy.

Ready for What Comes Next?

After heartbeat confirmation, your journey transitions into regular OB care and continued support from the J. Baby team. Each step brings you closer to helping a family grow.

If you ever have questions during your cycle or throughout the embryo transfer process, we’re always here to guide you.
