For Surrogates

Step 4 - Medical Clearance

The Fourth Step in Your J. Baby Surrogacy Journey

After you’ve been matched with your Intended Parents, the next milestone is Step 4: Medical Clearance. This step ensures you’re physically ready to move forward with the embryo transfer and introduces you to the medical team who will be supporting your pregnancy.

At J. Baby, we guide you through this stage with clarity and care, so you always know what to expect and never feel alone during the process.

What Happens During Your IVF Clinic Appointment

During Medical Clearance, you’ll visit the IVF clinic where your journey will be closely monitored. This appointment includes several standard evaluations designed to ensure a safe and healthy pregnancy.

Bloodwork

Your nurse or medical team will draw blood to assess hormone levels, screen for routine health markers, and confirm that your body is ready for treatment.

Ultrasound

A transvaginal or abdominal ultrasound is performed to evaluate your uterus and reproductive health. This helps the doctor confirm that your body is optimally prepared for an embryo transfer.

Physical Exam

Your physician will complete a physical exam to review your overall health and address any medical questions you may have.

Meet Your Care Team

You’ll have time to speak directly with your doctor and the clinic’s nursing staff. This is your opportunity to ask questions, understand the next steps, and build comfort with the team that will care for you throughout the medical process.

What Happens After Your Appointment

Once your clinic visit is complete, the medical team will spend the next few weeks reviewing your test results, medical records, and evaluation notes.

This review helps ensure:

  • You’re medically prepared for treatment
  • There are no concerns that could affect embryo transfer
  • Your health and safety are fully supported
  • The journey can move forward with confidence

When everything is approved, the clinic provides official medical clearance — the green light for your embryo transfer cycle to begin.

Why This Step Matters

Medical Clearance is essential for protecting your health and ensuring a successful surrogacy journey. It provides:

  • Medical confirmation that you’re ready for pregnancy
  • Peace of mind for you and your Intended Parents
  • Expert evaluation of your reproductive health
  • A strong foundation for embryo transfer

By the end of Step 4, you’ll feel informed, supported, and ready for the next exciting phase of your journey.

Ready for the Next Step?

Once you’re medically cleared, you’ll move on to Step 5 – Legal & Insurance, where agreements are finalized and protections are put in place to safeguard everyone involved.

If you have questions about Medical Clearance or want help preparing for your appointment, the J. Baby team is always here to support you.
